Understanding the signs and symptoms of menopause is a good idea for both men and women. Here are some of the most commonly cited menopause symptoms and what to do about them.

The single most common of all menopause symptoms is the lack of a regular menstrual period. If there is a fair amount of certainty that the female is not pregnant, then seeing a doctor and checking on the possibility of the onset of menopause is imperative. There can be several reasons why the menstruation cycle might be delayed, but if menopause is about to launch, a woman will need some preparation in order to deal with this important change.

Next, it is not unusual for changes in demeanor to appear. For example, a women who is experiencing menopause symptoms may find that little things that normally are of no significance suddenly loom large. Habits of spouses, children, and friends that normally are only minor irritants suddenly become unbearable. There is a marked increase in sensitivity to any remark or action. Often menopause symptoms come on with no warning, so the woman may be completely unprepared to recognize what is happening and attempt to deal with the situation.

Another example of common menopause symptoms has to do with the occurrence of what is commonly referred to as hot flashes. Essentially, this is a condition in which the skin blood vessels momentarily dilate, causing a rush of blood to the surface that triggers a sense of heat. As with most menopause symptoms, the hot flashes come and go with no real warning, which can leave the women feeling helpless and frustrated.

Menopause symptoms should be understood, so that when they do occur, a woman and those who care about her will comprehend what is happening and be prepared to respond in a thoughtful and proper manner. Fortunately, after menopause has completed its cycle, most of the symptoms completely disappear, so it is important for everyone to understand that things will indeed get better with time.
